Managing Test Sessions

There are various ways of managing test sessions in FastTest. This article will help you dive into the details.

Deleting a Test Session

To delete a test session, check the box next to the test session and click the Delete button. You will be prompted to confirm the deletion. If a test session cannot be deleted for any reason, an error message will appear. A test session cannot be deleted if any of the following are true:

  • The test session was included by a parent workspace
  • The test session is used by a group test code
  • The test session is currently being edited by another user
  • Examinees are scheduled to take the test session or have already taken it

Automatically Created Test Sessions

For users that only wish to deliver test sessions consisting of a single test, FastTest simplifies the online delivery process by automatically creating your test sessions for you.

  • Whenever a test is created, a test session is created with that test as its only component.
  • These automatically created test sessions will appear in the “Single-Test Test Sessions” test session folder.

Each test will be linked to its automatically created test session so that changes to the test can also affect the test session. When the name or description of the test is changed, the name and description of the test session will be updated. Similarly, if the test is protected or unprotected, the test session will be protected or unprotected to match.

Protecting/Unprotecting a Test Session

Before a test session can be administered to an examinee, it must be protected. A test session cannot be protected if any of the following are true:

  • The test session contains no components
  • The test session contains an unprotected test

A test session can be unprotected by either the person that protected it or by a workspace administrator. It cannot be unprotected if any of the following are true:

  • The test session was included by a parent workspace
  • The test session is used by a group test code
  • Examinees are scheduled to take the test session or have already taken it.
