Appendix T- Installation of Weblock on Chromebook

Purpose: Step-by-step guide from opening FastTest through installing LockDown Browser, launching WebLock, and starting the test

Important

On a Chromebook, FastTest WebLock uses a Chrome extension. Install it using the link on the FastTest WebLock page, then launch your exam from that same page.

Before you start

  • Use a Chromebook with the Chrome browser
  • Have your test code (or login details) from your school or testing organization
  • Have a working internet connection
  • Allow Chrome to add an extension when asked

Step 1 — Open FastTest and enter your test code

  1. Open Chrome on your Chromebook.
  2. Go to the FastTest exam login link your school or organization gave you.
  3. Enter your test code (and any other information asked for).
  4. Continue.
  5. If your test requires WebLock, FastTest will open the WebLock page for Chromebook.

Step 2 — Install LockDown Browser (only if not already installed)

  • On the WebLock page, under Step 1, click the link to install the LockDown Browser Chrome extension.
  • When Chrome asks, click Add to Chrome, then Add extension.
  • When installation finishes, return to the FastTest WebLock page.
  • If the page does not update, refresh it.
  • If the extension is already installed, skip to Step 3.

Step 3 — Launch WebLock and continue to your test

  1. On the same page, under Step 2, click the link to launch WebLock and continue.
  2. Click once and wait a few seconds. The page may appear unchanged briefly; this is normal.
  3. LockDown Browser will open and take you into the secure exam session.

Step 4 — Start your exam

  1. You should see the FastTest dashboard (your name and a Continue / Begin link).
  2. Click Click here to continue or Begin test.
  3. Your exam questions will load. Complete the test as instructed.

Step 5 — When you finish

  1. Follow the on-screen instructions to submit or finish the exam.
  2. If you see Exit WebLock, use that link to leave the secure browser.
  3. Do not force-close the Chromebook unless instructed by your proctor or school.

Quick summary

  • Open FastTest and enter your test code.
  • Install the extension from Step 1 on the WebLock page (if needed).
  • Click Step 2 to launch WebLock.
  • On the dashboard, click Begin / Continue.
  • Take your exam, then exit WebLock when finished.
