Distinguishing Features

There are numerous systems on the market for web-based assessment.

What sets FastTEST Web above the rest? Professional level sophistication! FastTEST Web was designed and is supported by Ph.D. psychometricians whose passion is the improvement of psychological, educational, and personnel testing. Advanced Test Development and Psychometrics

FastTEST Web's use of advanced psychometrics during test development and test delivery is not available in most competing web-based assessment systems. With FastTEST Web you gain the productivity benefits of built-in psychometric functionality to assist as you design tests to specifically meet your criteria.

  • Build tests using classical methods: FastTEST Web estimates the mean, standard deviation, and reliability of the test, before the test is ever administered, to help pre-equating and parallel form assembly.

  • Build tests using item response theory (IRT): FastTEST Web determines the test information function and the conditional standard error of measurement function for your test, which provide a detailed estimate of your test's precision for each level of candidate ability.

  • Both classical and IRT test development methods provide frequency distributions of item statistics.

  • Search for items with specific statistical values (both classical and IRT) to assemble a test that meets your criteria; then FastTEST Web provides the information you need to evaluate how close it comes to your desired measurement objectives.

  • Item statistics (classical or IRT) are in the item bank; they can be entered manually or imported en masse from any item analysis software, including our advanced Iteman 4 classical analysis software.

Advanced Test Delivery

  • Classical scoring: FastTEST Web works with test items scored correct/incorrect or option weighted (partial credit), and with rating scale items.

  • IRT scoring: FastTEST Web scores tests with IRT, using both maximum likelihood and Bayesian methods. IRT methods enable developers to build more powerful tests and score examinees with greater precision.

  • Scaled scoring: Automatically convert your scores to a defined scale to ensure comparability and security; both norm-referenced and criterion-referenced methods available.

  • Computerized adaptive testing (CAT) adds an extraordinary dimension to the process and efficiency of your testing programs. CAT testing is in use worldwide in many major testing programs, and is changing Educational, Certification, Regulatory, Business, and Psychological testing to provide more meaningful measurement and rigor than has been feasible to date. CAT typically cuts testing time in half, with more security and score precision.

Advanced Reporting

  • Examinee score reports are fully customizable; separate reports can be created for passing and failing examinees.

  • A wide selection of queries enable you to get meaningful views of all the data in your test item bank (e.g., number of tests each item is on, number of items in each content area, summary of examinee performance).

  • Classical item analysis reports provide statistics essential to ensure the quality of your tests and items.

  • Export data for more extensive classical analysis via Iteman 4, or IRT analysis via Xcalibre or other IRT software.
